Fraction of amount and percentage of amount

To work out the fraction of an amount, first of all it is essential to convert the fraction to a decimal.
To do this divide the numerator (top number) by the denominator (bottom number). eg – 1/5 = 0.2 Then times this answer by the amount you wish to find a fraction of.
e.g 1/5 of 20 = 0.2 x 20 = 4
To work out the percentage of an amount, it is also essential to first convert the percentage to a decimal.
To do this move the decimal place left two spaces – eg – 25% = 0.25 Then times this answer by the amount you wish to find apercentage of.
e.g 25% of 20 = 0.25 x 20 = 5.
